Stop hospitals being able to take families to court over treatment

Charlie Gard was born on the 4th of August 2016. He was born healthy but when he was 8 weeks old he was taken to hospital sick and if was determined he had mitochondrial depletion syndrome a genetic condition that unfortunately both his parents carried.

Charlie's parents found a possible treatment for him in the US and started raising the funds. Even though they raised more than the £1.3 million required their parental rights were stripped from them because they were taken to court, something I find completely disgusting. They have also recently lost their fight at the court of appeal, but still they plan to fight on.

I believe a Charlie's law should be put into place to prevent parents who want the best for their children and who want to exhaust all possible treatment options before giving up being taken to court.

It is Charlie's human right to life and I think all children should be given the chance at life, no matter what the NHS might think.
