Honor Civil Rights Hero Julian Bond

One of the American civil rights movement’s most tenacious and accomplished champions passed away on August 16, 2015.

Julian Bond was an original leader in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a co-founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Chairman Emeritus of the NAACP. His efforts to fight racial discrimination left an indelible impact on America, expanding rights and opportunities in communities of color across the country.

But Mr. Bond’s advocacy extended well beyond issues of race. He was also a powerful advocate for equality for women, LGBTQI Americans, and other marginalized Americans.

Julian Bond was a certified American hero, whose dedication to justice lifted the voices of millions of Americans.

Let’s honor his contributions to making America a more perfect union -- urge President Obama to award this amazing man a posthumous Medal of Freedom, one of the nation’s highest honors.
