Don't Make Sexual Assault Victims Pay for Their Rape Kits!

Hospitals in Wisconsin have been charging sexual assault victims as much as $1,200 for the cost of examinations for years, despite the fact that government funds have been available to cover the cost.

These victims have been through traumatic experiences -- they should walk away beginning to heal, not with debt from medical bills.

Jill Karofsky, the director of the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Office of Crime Victim Services, said that Wisconsin is planning on working with hospitals to teach them how to properly use government funds.

Please tell Jill Karofsky to make sure that this never happens again!

I am writing to you today concerning sexual assault victims in Wisconsin.

Despite the availability of government funds, many sexual assault victims in your state have been forced to pay for the cost of their examinations -- as much as $1,200.

You recently said that the state is going to start working with hospitals to make sure they know how to use government funds.

Please make sure that this never happens again.

Thank you for your time.
