Political Prisoners

Over a hundred men and women are held without charges/Trial after the civil war ended in Sri lanka in May 2009. All the prisoners referred to are TAMILS. Over 8 years have elapsed since they were taken into custody. Promises were made by the Government that the prisoners will be released or charged in the Courts of Law. Parents and relatives have had numerous peaceful demonstrations demanding their release or be charged.in the courts.Unfortunately no tangible steps have been taken by the Government for fear of antogonising the the Sinhalese majority, on whose votes the govenment depends on for their survival. It is a crime against humanity to torture the prisoners indefinitely. Despite this matter being taken at the UN sessions nothing seems to happen .
HENCE PLESE DEMAND FOR THE RELEASE OF THE TAMIL PRISONERS WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DELAY.
