President Obama - Thank you for declaring Stonewall Inn as America's first LGBTQ National Monument.

Many people consider the Stonewall Inn to be the site of the first major LGBTQ civil rights victory. In the morning hours of June 28, 1969, a riot following a police raid targeting members of Manhattan's LGBTQ community sparked a fire that began the pride movement.

President Obama announced on June 24 that the Stonewall Inn would become America's first LGBTQ civil rights national monument - preserving the story of Stonewall for generations to come.
