Mandatory Microchip Scanning

We want the Government to make it compulsory to have Vet Clinics scan all dogs and cats for a microchip in their practices as well as all Animal Welfare Organizations, including Rescues, Shelters, surrendered pets and strays.

Too many pets have gone missing that have microchips.  Some have never been found and could have been sold on the internet, kept by the finder or rehomed.  If the animals are routinely scanned, the data bases are made available and updated regularly and there are laws that prevent re-registration when the chip infomation shows the animal is registered to someone, this would benefit all legitimate owners.

Having these guidelines in place would greatly assist the people searching for their missing pets and protect our beloved animals.
