Trisomy is not a word commonly known. It is a type of polysomy in which there are three instances of a particular chromosome, instead of the normal two. Each parent contributes 23 chromosomes for a total of 46. In the early stages of pregnancy, a chromosome can develop a "copy" in which case becomes 3.

Trisomy 21 is the most common one known as Down Syndrome.

Our daughter was diagnosed with Trisomy 13. She had a full extra copy of the 13th chromosome. This is also known as Patau Syndrome. The survival rate of T13 babies is much less than that of a T21 baby. However, what we need to change is the "encouragement" from all medical staff pushing for terminating the pregnancy when such diagnosis are made.

Our beautiful angel WAS born living and we had her for 5 glorious days.
We could have intervened and potentially prolonged her life but that was not our intention, we are thankful for meeting her.

There are so many parents out there that have Trisomy babies that are living and thriving and there are so many forms of it. Deletion, Mosaic, Translocation, etc. Did you know that there are Doctors that will NOT operate on Trisomy babies beacuse the "medical literature" tells them that they "will die anyway" THIS HAS TO STOP!!!!

Please sign this petition so that we can show the United States and world that these babies deserve just as much of a chance to live than "normal" babies.
