We must have building inspections

I was living at an assisted living facility from April, 2011 until April, 2013. There were no inspections done regarding the safety of that building during that four year period. On December 23, 2012 my roof collapsed. The actual cause dates back to October, 2012. A leak in our ceiling led to wood rot, which led to the collapse of our ceiling.

I am concerned about this incident because it proves a lack of safety concerns by both the building administrator an the city of Long Beach. After relocating, I contacted Long Beach code enforcement, which told me that a case against this facilities management because I was no longer a resident.

I would like for the city of Long Beach, as well as the state of California, to do whatever possible to do random inspections at all living facilities more often. There should be some type of law or regulation that would force these government agencies to require these inspections and penalize all facilities that are not up to government codes. This should make these facilities much safer for all residents.
