A peaceful Sunday morning walk turned into an
emergency for residents in a Nashville neighborhood when they discovered a
terrified young dog pulling eight feet of heavy chain attached to it.
Quickly the neighborhood came together, and doorbell cameras filled in the gaps:

dragging the helpless dog behind it by a chain. The video is hard to watch: this sweet, gentle animal
desperately trying to keep up, with no way to escape or rest. At some point the chain mercifully snapped. That's likely the only reason the dog survived this ordeal.
When neighbors rescued him, he was
shaking, silent, unable to eat or drink, his tail tucked completely under him. He hid in fear, traumatized by what someone had intentionally done to him. Yet within a single day,
once he realized he was safe, he transformed: tail wagging, seeking affection, showing the playful spirit he had been too afraid to reveal.
This dog survived. But the person who chained him to that car is still out there.
Dragging a dog behind a moving vehicle is not appropriate, ever. Not for exercise, not for discipline, not for fun.
It is torture. And anyone capable of this level of cruelty should never be allowed near an animal for the rest of their life.
This dog deserves justice, and Nashville deserves to know that such cruelty will not be tolerated.
