Ask the Queen to Stop Supporting Pigeon Racing!

The Queen has been racing pigeons since childhood, and currently owns a pigeon loft with about 250 birds. Pigeon race organizers drive the birds away from home, then release them. The bird who returns home the fastest wins the race.

Recent undercover investigations have found that most of the birds involved in cross-Channel pigeon racing never return home, and die due to severe weather, exhaustion or predators. In one 2012 prison race, from Fougeres in Brittany, nearly 90 percent of the pigeons were lost.

Pigeons are intelligent birds which share a historic bond with humans. Please sign the petition to ask the Queen to stop supporting pigeon racing!

To: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

We, the undersigned, are concerned about your Majesty's involvement in pigeon racing.

Pigeons are intelligent birds which share a historic bond with humans. For the sake of the welfare of these animals, we respectfully urge your Majesty to consider ending all involvement with the practice of pigeon racing. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
