Ensure Elderly New Yorkers Aren't Forgotten

It's hard to imagine feeling lonely in a city of more than 8 million people. Yet many elderly New Yorkers can go days on end without seeing a friendly face or hearing a familiar voice on the telephone.

For example, Linda and her husband John spent 34 years together in their Brooklyn home. But in 2009, John passed away. Linda's days, once filled with loving companionship, are now bleak and lonely. The regular visit from a Citymeals-on-Wheels delivery person is her primary connection to the outside world.

In addition, Linda's own health has deteriorated and she's unable to do her own shopping. However, she knows she can rely on a nutritious meal from Citymeals.

New York City is home to nearly 1.3 million senior citizens. Many are alone and at risk for malnutrition. Pledge to support Citymeals' efforts to ensure elderly New Yorkers aren't forgotten, and reach out to the frail aged neighbors and loved ones in your life.
