Justice for Singer: Prosecute Puppy Torture in Louisville to the Fullest Extent of the Law

Two boys heard a puppy crying near Shelby Park in Louisville. When they looked, they found her inside a recycling bin. She had two broken front legs, a fractured skull, and blood pooling in her eyes. Rescuers at The Arrow Fund named her Singer.

Louisville Metro Police have charged a man with torture of a dog, tampering with physical evidence, and cruelty to animals, and news reports say he has been indicted. He is presumed innocent, and a court will decide the facts. But what happens next depends on the prosecutors.

I'm Eric, and I run I Love Every Dog. I'm asking the Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to pursue every charge in this case to the fullest extent of Kentucky law, to refuse any plea that treats Singer's injuries as a minor offense, and to ask the court for a ban on the defendant owning or living with animals if he is convicted.
Singer cannot speak for herself. Two kids did the right thing and carried her to safety. At the very least, the justice system can show them, and everyone else who finds an animal in trouble, that it takes this seriously.
