Help eradicate poverty by 2030

In the last three decades, the world has made incredible strides toward ending poverty. Today, just half the number of people live in extreme poverty as did in 1990. Every single day, 250,000 people rise out of poverty to live a better life with more opportunity for themselves and the children.

But those statistics are little solace for the 800 million people who still get by on less than $2 a day. The don't just lack money. These families often lack access to safe drinking water too. When the water makes them sick, they don't have doctors or health facilities to get treatment. For many education is a pipe dream, and those who can attend school have to stop their studies at sundown since they lack electricity.

But if we've learned anything in the last decades, it's that's poverty isn't permanent. With a little help to build economic opportunity, provide better services and fight big issues that keep people down like climate change and conflict, we reach our goal to end global poverty.

This October 17th marks the 25th anniversary of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Since it started, more than 1 billion people have overcome extreme poverty. Just imagine what we can accomplish in the decade to come.

Let's not leave anyone behind. Add your name to support ending extreme poverty by 2030.
