Facebook - Stop the Discriminatory Housing Ads

ProPublica has caught Facebook again for allowing discriminatory housing advertisements. Ad-buyers have been able to exclude people of certain races, religions, genders, etc. from viewing housing ads.

Under the Fair Housing Act (passed nearly 50 years ago) this practice is very much illegal. Renters and sellers are not allowed to show a preference for the type of tenant/purchaser they want, including when it comes to advertising the property.

Facebook made over $9 billion in ad revenue last quarter. They can afford to put some effort into ensuring that discriminatory ads don't run, and that housing advertisers do not block certain types of people from seeing their ads. We call on Facebook to address this issue ASAP.
