Urge the USDA to Ban Antibiotic Resistant Salmonella

It’s one thing to get sick from the food you eat; it’s a much scarier prospect if antibiotics can’t treat your disease.

Overuse of medically important antibiotics on industrial animal farms has contributed to the rise of new strains of “superbugs” that are harder—or impossible—to treat with antibiotics. Antibiotic-resistant strains of Salmonella on meat and poultry have been linked to at least 2,350 illnesses, 400 hospitalizations, and 8 deaths.

Our health is at risk! To keep us safe, the USDA needs to institute a sampling and testing program that would ensure the safety of meat and poultry. We need your help to convince USDA to keep these dangerous strains of bacteria out of the food supply.

Take action today and urge the USDA to keep anti-biotic resistant salmonella off our plates and out of our bodies!
To: U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack

The overuse of medically important antibiotics on animal farms is creating a dangerous situation for all of us - the rising of threat of antibiotic resistant salmonella.

I am urging you to create a testing program that will identify and prevent the spread of this dangerous threat.
