On Thanksgiving Day, a man in Pennsylvania was suffering from a severe mental health crisis that had been worsening for several days. As the pressure of the day continued to build up, his condition unfortunately reached a tragic peak - ending with the maiming and possible death of the family's pitbull dog.

Sign the petition to demand that Pennsylvania authorities provide immediate and intensive psychological services for this man!

Family members told authorities that the man hadn't been able to sleep for days and was suicidal, and that his symptoms had been becoming more intense. Nevertheless, the family gathered for their Thanksgiving meal together and tried to carry on with celebrations.

At some point during the gathering, the man left the family home and ran to a trailer on the property. Inside were both a large knife, and the family's dog. You can unfortunately probably guess what happened next. Unwell, the man grabbed the knife and used it against the dog, stabbing the innocent pup in the side of its neck.

When the family discovered the scene, the dog could no longer raise its head due to the wounds. The floor of the trailer was covered in pools of blood. They rushed the dog to an emergency clinic, but it is unclear if the dog was able to survive.

Authorities have charged the man with felony animal cruelty - but that's not going to fix the underlying problem. If we want this man and all those around him to be safe, then the state needs to mandate immediate and intensive mental health services, now! Sign the petition to urge authorities to address the real issue here, in order to protect pets and people in the future!
