Tell Indiana Governor Pence: Don't Legalize Hate and Bigotry

What is happening in Indiana is outrageous - in fact, it is down right scary. Thanks to Governor Pence, who recently signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) into law, Indiana business owners who object to same-sex couples for religious reasons will now have a legal right to deny them goods and services.

As criticism of the new law mounted, Governor Pence announced that he would seek new legislation "clarifying" the law.

But his "clarification" is phony unless it guarantees explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBT Hoosiers and includes a clear civil rights carve-out within the RFRA.

As the governor of a state, Mike Pence is signaling discrimination is okay. He must stop. Take action: tell Mike Pence to reverse his position. It's time for him to uphold the values of fairness and equality for the people of Indiana.
Dear Governor Pence,

As a strong believer in fairness and equality, I implore you to reverse your position on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act you recently signed.

This ill-conceived law threatens not only your LGBT constituents, but almost anyone, in the name of religion. Indiana is better than that. All Hoosiers deserve to be treated equally with dignity and respect.

In the wake of a nationwide outcry and mounting criticism, you recently stated that you would seek new legislation to "clarify" the law.

If you are serious, please amend this legislation to guarantee explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBT Hoosiers and include a clear civil rights carve-out within RFRA. If you really don't want to discriminate, please prove it by protecting your LGBT residents and visitors now at risk in Indiana.
