Thank your legislator: Comprehensive high-cost loan reform passes Virginia House of Delegates and Senate

The Virginia House of Delegates and Senate have both passed comprehensive legislation (House Bill 789 & Senate Bill 421) to protect Virginians from harmful payday and title loans while expanding access to affordable credit.

This legislation ensures that all small loans in Virginia will have affordable payments, fair prices, and reasonable time to repay.  Families throughout the Commonwealth will benefit from access to affordable credit and save $100 million each year.

Share your appreciation for the Virginia legislature that passed comprehensive lending reform to protect Virginia consumers.
Dear [Senator/Delegate],

[optional personal comment]

I am writing to thank you for the passage of the Virginia Fairness in Lending Act [HB 789 & SB 421], comprehensive reform of Virginia's lending laws proven to protect families from harmful payday and title loan practices while ensuring widespread access to affordable credit. Hundreds of thousands of Virginians have been harmed by unaffordable payments and excessive prices associated with payday and title loans. The Virginia Fairness in Lending Act will protect consumers, ensure widespread access to affordable loans and save Virginia families more than $100 million each year.

I commend the Virginia legislature for passing these common-sense, proven reforms on a bipartisan basis at long last.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
