Help halve Australia's homelessness by 2025

On any given night 105,000 Australians don’t have a place to call home. That’s one in every 200 people.

It’s a heart-breaking and unacceptable reality in a wealthy nation like ours.

The problem is only getting worse too, with rates of homelessness on the rise, and more than 44,000 children and young people among those without a home.

And yet, there’s currently no funding commitment from our political leaders to tackle Australia’s homelessness and housing affordability problem beyond 2017.

Tell our leaders that inaction isn’t an option.

Mission Australia believes everyone should have access to safe, secure accommodation and a place to call home. That’s why we’re leading the call for a new multi-year agreement on housing and homelessness between the Commonwealth and State and Territory governments.

A long-term commitment is vital to end the cycle of uncertainty over funding that has dogged the homelessness sector in recent years and hampered efforts to improve services.

We know what works, and we have a plan. Our goal is to halve youth homelessness by 2020 and halve overall homelessness by 2025.

If your heart also breaks for the 105,000 Australians who will be homeless tonight, sign your name to demand action now from our leaders on homelessness funding.
