Bring Child Refugees Who are Alone in Calais Camps to the UK and Provide them with Appropriate Care Immediately!

  • af: Ann W

Refugee children seeking asylum in Calais are alone, suffering and in danger. Sadly, the U.K. Government is not doing enough to insure the safety of these children despite labour peer Alf Dub’ s amendment to the immigration act promising sanctuary!

Promises that discussions are being "sped up" to transfer the children to the U.K. seem to be just that: "promises." When The Guardian made inquiries as to the progress - there were no developments to report!

According to Labour PM Yvette Cooper, these children have the right to be reunited with with families in the U.K. And while they wait - they are being assaulted. In recent months, young boys have sought medical help after being raped. The attacks so vicious that surgery is required.

Leaving these children in limbo is cruel. According to another piece in The Guardian, "over these last 12 months the children of Calais have continued, and still continue, to suffer extreme deprivation, facing extreme risks of abuse, trafficking, exploitation and violence, and some have died trying to reach the sanctuary of the UK."

Please don't turn your backs on these desperate children. Demand that these children, who are all alone with little to no adult supervision, be brought into the safety of the U.K. immediately!

Dear Amber Rudd,

Secretary of State

U.K. Home Office

We (the undersigned) are extremely concerned about the refugee children seeking asylum in Calais. To know that these innocent young ones are being left essentially to there own devices in an area that leaves them as prime targets for abuse, trafficking and other unspeakable acts - not to mention the abstract fear they must feel on a daily basis is a crime against humanity.

Please, please, get these children to the safety of the U.K. immediately. They need help. Think of any children you personally know, and imagine how you would feel to know they are in such a horrible place! These children need that concern and compassion too.

Please don't wait another day.

Sincerely,
