Protect Your Baby From BPA

It's a debate that has gone on in the California Legislature for far too long: It's time to pass the Toxin-Free Infants & Toddlers Act, the bill that will ban the toxic chemical and synthetic estrogen bisphenol-A (BPA) in children's feeding containers such as baby bottles and sippy cups.

The brains and other organs of infants and children are constantly developing, undergoing periods of particular sensitivity to chemical exposures. Any disruption to their hormonal systems during development can set the stage for diseases like breast cancer and prostate cancer.

Join the California League of Conservation Voters and dozens of other children's, health and environmental advocates in supporting the ban of BPA in feeding containers intended for infants and children. Urge Governor Brown to stand with the 550,000 babies who will be born this year -- not with the chemical industry.
Dear Governor Brown,

I call on California's legislative leadership and Governor Brown to ban the toxic chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) in children's feeding containers by passing and signing AB 1319, the Toxin-Free Infants & Toddlers Act.

BPA is linked to cancer, obesity, ADHD, and disrupted development of hormones, the brain, and the immune system in more than 220 peer-reviewed studies.

It's outrageous that California allows BPA in these products despite the fact that safer alternatives are widely available. Stand up for infants and children -- not the chemical industry -- and ban BPA from baby bottles and sippy cups.
