Show us the real unemployment rate!

The unemployment rate in the U.S. is misleading. It only shows people looking for work, not people who have given up looking or are off unemployment benefits. Include these people in the unemployment rate!
Dear Congressman Armey,

The U.S. unemployment rate neglects to take into account many people. These people include people who are unemployed but have given up looking for work, as well as people whose unemployment benefits have run out. This paints a false picture for the U.S. economy. This is not right. I urge you to pass a law requiring unemployment figures to include people who have given up looking, as well as people cut off from benefits.

Sincerely,
