New York: Pass the Democracy Preservation Act

Over the past decade, foreign-influenced corporations have spent millions to sway elections in New York. Airbnb, for example, partly owned by a Russian oligarch's venture fund, spent $11M in New York's 2016 legislative races.

But New York has the chance to lead the nation by passing one of the boldest campaign finance reform laws in years. The Democracy Preservation Act (S1126 and A7458), a bill currently being considered by state legislators in New York, would bar foreign-influenced corporations like Airbnb and Amazon from contributing to candidates, parties, or committees (including super PACs) and from engaging in their own direct election spending.

It's time for us to take democracy back for the people of New York. Tell New York legislators to vote "yes" on the Democracy Preservation Act.
