Tell the Media — No Fame for Las Vegas Killer

At least 58 dead. More than 500 wounded. These are numbers you’d expect in an active warzone — not a Sunday-night country music concert in one of America’s most popular tourist destinations.

The details of October 1’s mass shooting in Las Vegas — America’s latest, largest mass shooting — are still emerging. However, one thing is crystal clear:

The heartless killer who took so many lives in Las Vegas should in no way profit from his murderous rampage.

We’re calling on the heads of major television news divisions to stop showing the shooter’s name and photo, but we’ll need as many signatures as we can get to convince them.

This murderer does not deserve to become a household name. The media should instead be focusing on the lives of people who were killed or injured by this killer. Television news should be spotlighting the bravery of Las Vegas's courageous first responders — not the story of an individual shot down dozens of our fellow Americans.

By adding your name, you’ll send a powerful message about the need for responsible journalism in the wake of mass killings. More important, you will help deny the Las Vegas shooter — and other, aspiring killers — any attention or validation for committing heinous acts of terror.
