Through the spreading of lies about ritual slaughter, people are trying to outlaw this practice, which is of great importance in both Judaism and Islam.
The lies usually state that ritual slaughter causes much suffering in animals. While being killed is never fun, both Islam and Judaism have taken many precautions to minimise suffering. In fact, it is fair to say that ritual slaughter causes much less suffering than 'regular' slaughter.
Fact: both in Islam and Judaism it's forbidden to slaughter an animal in the presence of other animals, to reduce fear and stress.
Fact: in 'regular' slaughter, the animals are slaughtered en masse, causing stress and panic among them.
Fact: in ritual slaughter, the animal is killed with one cut with a sharp knife which is checked for burrs beforehand. Because of this, the animal will not feel the cut. It looses consciousness within seconds.
Fact: in 'regular' slaughter, the stunning is often extremely painful and applied carelessly, resulting in the animal being conscious during the slaughter. Chickens get electrocuted, also often in such a sloppy way that they are still alive while they are plucked and slaughtered.
Many vets have already testified that ritual slaughter is both more respectful and less painful for animals. The only reason people keep demanding its abolishment, is animosity against Jews and Muslims.
