The Grateful Dead have provided the soundtrack for the lives of many people for half a century. Many people from all walks of life and all strata of society have gotten “on the bus” with this band and it has enriched their lives for decades.

On the occasion of their 50th Anniversary, to be marked by three days of epic concerts at historic Soldier Field, a great many of their long-time fans have been unable to acquire tickets to the event. The outpouring of support and interest argue that the band is well loved and means a tremendous amount to a great many people.

In a spirit of sharing the music and vibes of the weekend with more fans, we’re requesting that the “core-four” of Lesh, Weir, Kreutzmann, and Hart, and their management for the event consider adding a concurrent event at the concert venue on Northerly Island, with Jumbotron screening and sound system for the three days of shows. A reasonable ticket price for the event would allow more people to feel included in the shows AND provide a boost to the income of the band. A win-win situation for all involved.

Anyone who is a fan of the Dead, and of Trey Anastasio and Phish, will recognize that there will be a large overflow crowd in the Soldier Field. In addition to the obvious benefit of providing access to the good times to 30,000 more people. The event would also relieve the congestion in the parking lots.
