The FBI Burned Meth in the Same Building as an Animal Shelter. 75 Dogs, Cats, and Tiny Kittens Were Engulfed in Toxic Smoke.

Animals in a Billings, Montana shelter were nearly suffocated and poisoned to death because the FBI decided to burn a bunch of meth in an incinerator located in the same building.

That's right. The literal Federal Bureau of Investigation decided it was a good idea to burn confiscated meth in a building where vulnerable animals were being held. Worse yet, over a dozen wonderful humans who were caring for these animals were also exposed to the toxic burning.

Sign now to tell the FBI: Pay reparations to the workers and shelter pets who were medically impacted by this reckless burning!

75 cats and dogs had to be quickly evacuated from the poisonous air that the FBI was inadvertently pumping into their kennels. While many of the animals are making a recovery in foster homes after the respiratory and cardiovascular stress, four litters of tiny kittens are still under close surveillance. These poor kittens were in the smokiest part of the building, and are still suffering from eye and respiratory issues!

Unsurprisingly, when the shelter workers noticed the billowing toxic smoke, they immediately did the selfless thing: put on masks and prioritized evacuating the dozens and dozens of animals that were inside the building.

And as a result, they all had to be treated for smoke inhalation from the burning meth. They spent three hours in hyperbaric oxygen chambers for treatment, and several had to continue to return for follow-ups because of respiratory issues they were still having.

The FBI and other federal security-based organizations are supposed to keep communities safe, not actively make them sick. It is time that the FBI take full responsibility for the incident and appropriately pay all of the workers, as well as the shelter itself, for the injuries suffered by the workers and pets sheltered there. They must also commit to never burning controlled substances in this incinerator ever again. Sign the petition now if you agree!
