REAL Change Means REAL Jobs for Indigenous Australians

The measure of country is how it treats its most vulnerable. That's why past efforts to remedy the employment disparities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians are so infuriating. The numbers refuse to change despite large amounts of government money spent on the problem.

Many employers want to hire Indigenous workers and many Indigenous people want to work, but training programs are necessary to make the connection between them. And those programs just haven't worked--they either haven't trained people for jobs that exist, or they didn't provide the right kind of support. This has to change.

REAL change for Australia means making sure no one is left behind, which means preparing Indigenous jobseekers so that they are work and job ready.

The GenerationOne Skills and Training for a Career draft policy is about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to become work and job ready, in line with the needs of employers. The final policy will be advocated to the Federal Government. Let's make it happen. Pledge your support.
