Give Cat Abuser the Sentence He Deserves

After a night of drinking, Reece Donahue of Minnesota posted to his Facebook, "1 kitty is going to die tonight."

He then began throwing poor Ophelia, a two-month-old tabby cat he recently adopted from a shelter, at the ceiling. He threw her so hard that tufts of Ophelia's fur were stuck to the ceiling, and blood was on her nose and mouth.

Although Ophelia is now safe and back at the shelter, we need to make sure that Donahue gets more than just a slap on the wrist.

Tell Susan Gaertner, St. Paul's District Attorney, to make sure that Reece Donahue is prosecuted accordingly for the horrible mistreatment of Ophelia.
Dear Susan Gaertner,

Animal cruelty is never justifiable, and Reece Donahue deserves more than just a slap on the wrist for throwing Ophelia the Tabby into the ceiling so hard that he left behind tufts of her fur.

Donahue is just one of many animal abusers. If he is let go with light sentencing, he will set the example for other animal abusers like him and signal to them the mistreatment of helpless animals is acceptable.

He was arrested for gross-misdemeanor animal cruelty, for which the maximum fine is $3000 and one year imprisonment. Donahue and abusers like him deserve every dollar of that fine, and every hour of that imprisonment.

I am writing to urge you to prosecute Reece Donahue accordingly for the mistreatment of Ophelia the Tabby.
