2015 Yamaha R1 Ignition Switch Park Position Software Fix or Mechanical Fix that will prevent the killing of our stock batteries

Because we are tired of this design flaw, countless people have been met with a Dead Battery the next time they try to start their Brand New Motorcycle after accidentally putting their new 2015 Yamaha R1's in Park Mode.

When putting the Bike in Lock Mode it is too easy to mistakenly put it in park mode. When in Park Mode the bike will drain the bikes battery within a day or two. There is no indication that the bike is in park mode in the form of a Beep or the form of something being displayed on the screen to indicate that the bike is in park mode. This has become a silent killer for our bikes batteries. And since Yamaha has changed it warranty position on the batteries to not cover them for a full year, Yamaha should do right by its customers and either create a software fix that will help indicate the bike is in park mode when being parked, or change all the ignition switches so that you would have to turn the key more in order to get the bike into Park Mode.

Dear Hiroyuki Yanagi,

Because we are tired of this design flaw, countless people have been met with a Dead Battery the next time they try to start their Brand New Motorcycle after accidentally putting their new 2015 Yamaha R1's in Park Mode.

When putting the Bike in Lock Mode it is too easy to mistakenly put it in park mode. When in Park Mode the bike will drain the bikes battery within a day or two. There is no indication that the bike is in park mode in the form of a Beep or the form of something being displayed on the screen to indicate that the bike is in park mode. This has become a silent killer for our bikes batteries. And since Yamaha has changed it warranty position on the batteries to not cover them for a full year, Yamaha should do right by its customers and either create a software fix that will help indicate the bike is in park mode when being parked either audibly or visibly, or change all the ignition switches so that you would have to turn the key more in order to get the bike into Park Mode.

This park mode has constantly killed more and more bike batteries and caused your loyal customers much distress and frustration over the last few months. We ask you the President and CEO to do something about this consistent problem that plagues all of your new production supersport bike.
