Speak Up Against Inhumane Wild Horse Roundups!

In July, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) began rounding up more than 1,200 federally protected wild horses on public lands in Nevada. The use of helicopters to run terrified horses over miles of scorching desert resulted in serious injuries and the deaths of more than 20 horses.
Unbelievably, the BLM plans to continue these summer roundups in spite of this disastrous outcome. Wild horse and burro champions Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) and Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) are currently circulating a letter among the members of the House of Representatives that will soon be sent to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.
Tell your representatives to voice their support to protect wild horses by signing a letter urging Secretary Salazar to halt the current roundups along with any other pending gathers of wild horses.

As a concerned constituent, I am writing to urge you to sign a letter being circulated by Congressmen Grijalva and Rahall regarding the Bureau of Land Management's roundups of wild horses.

On July 10, a nearly 100-degree day, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) began rounding up more than 1,200 federally protected wild horses on public lands in Nevada. The use of helicopters to run the terrified horses over miles of scorching desert resulted in serious injuries and the deaths of more than 20 horses, at least three of whom were foals (the roundup took place less than two months after foaling season). Unbelievably, the BLM plans to continue these summer roundups in spite of the disastrous events of July 10--all without providing reasonable public access to the gathers as mandated by court order.
The actions taken by the BLM are inappropriate and unacceptable. Therefore, I respectfully urge you to sign the letter being circulated by Congressmen Rahall and Grijalva asking the BLM to refrain from any further action until a clear plan is in place to sustainably manage and protect our wild herds.
