Help us ban combustible cladding for good

  • af: Shelter
  • mottagare: Secretary of State, James Brokenshire

It's been over a year since the Grenfell Tower fire, and there are 146 social housing buildings that have not replaced unsafe cladding.

So far, the government has talked a good game, but its actions haven't gone far enough. It's pledged £400 million to fully fund the removal and replacement of cladding – but the money is coming from the Affordable Homes Programme. There must be no trade-off between necessary affordable homes being built and homes being kept safe.

Please sign our petition asking the government to:

  1. issue a ban on combustible cladding and provide clarity on what cladding is safe
  2. put a firm deadline in place for when the removal and replacement of cladding must be completed
  3. make sure the £400m promised to remove unsafe cladding is distributed quickly and not taken from the Affordable Homes Programme.

Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, must make these guarantees right away – starting with an immediate ban on all combustible cladding.

Join us to say that anything less is not good enough – far from it.
