Protect Egyptian Protesters and Hold Egypt's Military and Police Accountable

  • mottagare: Egyptian Supreme Council of the Armed Forces
The fight for freedom is not over in Egypt. As the recent violence in Tahrir Square demonstrated, the Egyptian people continue to struggle with tyranny.

Since coming into power, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has ignored and contributed to violence against Egyptian protesters.

Military and police personnel brutalize Egyptian protesters for exercising their human rights. While protesters are unfairly imprisoned, the police and army go unpunished for their violence.

Tell SCAF to protect the Egyptian people's rights and to fulfill the promise of democracy that inspires them.
The abuses committed by military and police towards the Egyptian people is absolutely unacceptable.

After overthrowing an oppressive government, the citizens of Egypt are finally in a position where they can participate in the creation of a democratic state. And yet, this ideal is faltering. We see more violence against them, not less. They are once more the object of excessive violence and unfair punishment.

As the ruling power during the interim between presidencies, it is your duty to protect the people of Egypt and uphold their human rights.

I urge you to shield the people of Egypt from further tyranny and preserve their freedom by holding the police and army accountable for any abuses committed against protesters.
