21 and living with MS: Stand with Shannon in the fight for a cure

Shannon Tori was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at 19 years of age.  Learning she had an incurable, degenerative neurological condition which affects the brain and spinal cord, Shannon refused to let go of her hopes for a bright future.

Four days after her diagnosis, Shannon supported the MS community by fundraising at the Western Australian Step-up event, run by MSWA. Shannon’s family were right behind her – literally, climbing the 1,103 steps on the day as part of the event.

Now 21, Shannon leads a busy life. ‘I’ve been hitting the gym a lot and playing netball, so my fitness has improved which is really important for my continued wellbeing,’ Shannon said.

‘Promising research projects are underway in Australia and internationally. I encourage all young people with MS to hold onto hope for a cure.’

MSWA is committed to supporting vital research projects to find causes, a cure and better treatments for MS. We’re determined to help stamp out this devastating condition and give hope to people living with MS.

Stand with young people like Shannon and support research to help find a cure and better treatments for MS.
