Illegal tethering kills dogs. Don't tolerate it.

Sign our pledge to look twice at tethering, and report suspected cruelty in your neighbourhood

We can only guess how long Hugo lay on the filthy fly screen in his yard – tangled in his tether, surrounded by faeces and with no access to water or shelter.

It could have been weeks, months, or even years. All we know is that a kind neighbour finally saw Hugo’s suffering and alerted Animal Welfare League NSW.

Thank goodness he did. Otherwise Hugo might have ended up like the tragic terrier we found tethered in a Sydney suburb – dead and alone in his baking backyard.

Today, Animal Welfare League NSW is calling on every caring person to take action on illegal tethering, and to sign our pledge to report suspected cruelty without delay.

Illegal tethering kills. Pledge your help to stop it, and help save more lives like Hugo
