Colorado just banned puppy mill pet sales — help make it stick
Colorado just took a major step for animals: Governor Polis signed a new law banning pet stores from selling dogs and cats, cutting off a key pipeline for puppy mills that keep dogs in overcrowded, inhumane conditions purely for profit.
The law takes effect January 1, 2027 — but laws are only as strong as their enforcement. Without proper funding and oversight, some sellers could look for loopholes or simply ignore the rules until they're caught.
