Demand disability equality training is made a requirement for all taxi and minicab drivers

Last Christmas Mahomed was trying to make his way home from hospital at 5am when a minicab driver refused to take him home because he had his guide dog Vargo with him. This left Mahomed stranded, upset and frustrated.

Frustrated because access refusals like this take place all too often.

Guide Dogs' have found that 42% of assistance dog owners were turned away by a taxi or minicab in the last year because of their dog. This is against the law, and simply unacceptable.

Disability equality training for all taxi and minicab drivers will help them understand the rights and needs of disabled people and will help to reduce the number of guide dog owners who are turned away.
