Ryder Collapsed in the Summer Heat While Pulling a Carriage. Pass Ryder's Law and Ban Horse Carriages Now!

In the brutal summer of 2022, a carriage horse named Ryder collapsed in the middle of a Manhattan street. The disturbing footage showed him sprawled on the hot pavement as his handler allegedly refused him water and tried to force him up. Ryder's suffering and later euthanization for health issues sparked national outrage. Now, his story is back in the spotlight as the trial against the carriage driver begins.

Cities across the globe have already banned the cruel, outdated practice of horse-drawn carriages, replacing it with humane electric alternatives. It's time for New York to do the same.

Sign the petition to urge the New York City Council to pass Ryder's Law and finally end horse-drawn carriages in NYC!

Ryder's autopsy revealed a heartbreaking truth: the horse was underweight, in poor health, and shouldn't have been working in the heat at all. Yet his handler allegedly ignored every warning sign. The trial has only reaffirmed what advocates and eyewitnesses knew – that Ryder was emaciated, overworked, and denied care.

Horses don't belong in chaotic city streets, dodging traffic in sweltering temperatures. Ryder's Law is a solution. It will phase out horse-drawn carriages, support the transition to electric ones, and offer a better future not only for animals, but for drivers as well.

We can't allow another horse to endure what Ryder did.

Sign the petition and demand the NYC Council pass Ryder's Law – before another horse collapses in the streets.
