Help Dogfighting Victims Find Safe and Loving Homes

Isolation. Violence. Death. In the nightmarish world of dogfighting, innocent dogs can spend their whole lives on the end of a heavy chain — starved, neglected, abused — until they're forced to kill or be killed in brutal combat.

We are working on every front to end dogfighting and taking down organized dogfighting rings through investigations, law enforcement training and legislation. But unfortunately, current federal law does not account for the fact that rescued dogs can't simply be warehoused like other kinds of seized property.

Because they're considered "evidence," they must be held in shelters until the court cases finish, which can take months, or even years. Even with the best care, dogs in long-term holding are prone to ever-worsening despair and mental deterioration.

What these living, feeling victims need and deserve are fresh starts in caring homes. We can fix this, but we need your voice. If passed, the HEART Act would facilitate faster rehabilitation and rehoming of innocent dogs rescued in federal cases.

Please add your name to show Congress that voters care about this issue and that they should pass the HEART Act without further delay — because these animals have suffered enough.
