US Government to Encourage Safe, Secure and Efficient Air Service to Afgahnistan in Support of Reconstruction Efforts.
“The United States plays an important role in ongoing reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. A large number of U.S. citizens and residents who are employed or contracted by the U.S. government, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), engineering and consulting firms, charities, media organizations and others, travel regularly between the United States and Afghanistan.
Existing travel options between both countries are inefficient and unreliable, and in some cases unsafe and insecure. Given the importance of our missions as well as the absence of good travel alternatives, we have no choice but to rely on these inadequate services.
The introduction of safe, secure, and efficient air service between the United States and Afghanistan would enable us to more effectively carry out our humanitarian relief and reconstruction missions in Afghanistan. The undersigned support all efforts to introduce safe, secure and efficient air service between the United States and Afghanistan.”
