Princeton University: Stop Abusing Monkeys For Fun!

Researchers at Princeton University allegedly used one of their marmoset monkeys for sadistic amusement rather than research. According to an anonymous whistleblower, Princeton laboratory employees placed a monkey in a ferret exercise ball and rolled it down the hallway just for fun. If true, the monkey would have experienced intense discomfort and terror from being handled and rolled in a ball.

The ethics of animal testing is a separate issue, but researchers receive funds for animal experiments in the hopes that they will make a discovery to better mankind. There is no excuse for rolling an animal around in a ball just for laughs while making it scared and nauseous, and there is no excuse for using research funds to support this behavior. If the event occurred as reported, it paints a disturbing portrait of how testing on animals can desensitize researchers.

This incident is currently under investigation by Princeton University. Sign the petition to urge administrators to fire and expel all parties responsible for the alleged incident and to better train their staff so this type of abuse never happens again!
