Prof pekunlu was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment on charges that he hindred the right of of head-scarfed female student to higher education. Yet he had only attempted to warn this student that it was a violation of the constituton to to enter the university premises with such an attire. That this violated the secular structure of the university. the professor did not receive a fair trial. The trial was a frame by religious extremists (from witnesses to judges) whose sole purpose was to get even with the secular democracy advocates. Instead they want to create religious tyranny beginning with intimidating intellectuals in the nation.
