Stand with Crossroads International to end violence against women

Everyday women around the globe face abuse and violence. Domestic violence, sexual assault and female genital mutilation (FGM) are all too common. And while the situation is dire in Canada, it is much worse and systemic in the global south.

This is why Crossroads has been working with local partners around the world for 60 years to alleviate poverty and advance the rights of women and girls.

With the support of Crossroads, KWIECO — our local partner in Tanzania — has opened the first shelter of its kind for abused women in all of Tanzania. The shelter is a remarkable achievement and provides a crucial safe place for women and girls to turn to and escape horrific abuses.

The shelter however, is an emergency stopgap, and that is why Crossroads continues to work with local partners in anti-violence and women's leadership work. As a multi-pronged strategy to address the systemic issues related to injustice and gender-based violence is crucial to end violence and advance the rights of women and girls.
