There is no question about it. The war in Iran — and it is indeed a war — is illegal.
By failing to seek congressional authorization before initiating a sweeping military campaign, killing a foreign leader and more than a thousand civilians, and putting American troops in harm's way, the Trump administration has violated the Constitution and its duty to you.
The war is rapidly escalating and spreading across the Middle East, but Congress has a vital lever: its power of the purse.
Congress should not fund this war. Doing so would further enable a glaring executive power grab. Plus, additional funding will not actually allow the U.S. to produce the weapons it needs quickly enough to protect troops if this war continues.
Your representatives have a duty to hold this overreaching executive branch accountable for this illegal war and ensure your tax dollars are not being wasted at the whim of a rogue executive branch.
