Gavin Barwell MP: Make Private Renting Safer

When I found this house the estate agents assured me that the repair work that was taking place would be completed.

Within a few weeks of moving in I discovered that I had a hole in my roof so big I could see straight outside. I complained but it wasn't fixed. Eventually my bedroom ceiling collapsed due to the amount of rain water that had come in through the hole.

My son and I have ended up in hospital after breathing in fumes from a cracked chimney breast. And I have fallen down the stairs and injured my foot as there were no banisters.

I can't even keep food in my kitchen cupboards as the mould is so bad it covers everything.

I pay £650 a month for the pleasure of living in a house that is not fit for purpose.

Nobody should have to live like this. The Housing Minister, Gavin Barwell, must make sure rented homes are genuinely fit for human habitation.
