Right-Wing Missouri: Hands Off Women's Health!

Right-wing Missouri legislators just passed a bill that would outlaw late-term of abortion to protect the health of the mother unless she will die or suffer permanent physical damage to a major bodily function. Emotional and mental health wouldn't matter one iota.

There are all kinds of health - mental, emotional and physiological. Every single one of these can be damaged by carrying a pregnancy to term and should be taken into consideration by physicians when deciding if a late-term abortion is necessary to protect the mother.

Doctors who abort a viable fetus for a woman who doesn't meet their strict standards could be fined up to $50,000 and jailed for up to seven years.

It's up Missouri women and their doctors -- not legislators -- to decide what kind of health matters when considering an abortion. Tell Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to protect all kinds of women's health and veto SB65/HB213.
Dear Governor Nixon,

I am writing today to urge you to veto SB66/HB213 -- two anti-woman bills that not only limit women's reproductive rights, but discount women's mental and emotional health in serious medical discussions.

[Your comments will be added here.]

It is not the business of the government of Missouri to decide what kinds of health matter when a woman is considering an abortion. Good health constitutes more than a living, breathing body and functioning organs. Mental and emotional health are just as important and should be an important part of the conversation between a woman and her doctor when deciding if a late-term abortion is appropriate to protect the mother.

Please stand up for all women's health and veto SB65/HB213.
