Support Women Survivors of War in the DRC
Women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) can't easily forget the deadly years of violence and conflict.
More than 5.4 million people have been killed in the DRC, and countless more -- mostly women -- have endured unspeakable horrors like torture, mutilation and sexual violence. The culture of rape and violence leaves the women of the DRC physically battered and emotionally scarred.
But still, the women of the DRC are strong and hopeful for a better future. In the midst of conflict and violence, they work hard to rebuild their homes and communities and care for their children.
You can help support these brave women with a letter of encouragement. For the mothers, daughters and sisters who have watched their country and their families be ravaged by war, a few words from a far away friend that let her know someone cares can restore hope.
Please, send a message of encouragement to a Congolese woman, and let her know that you support her.
Dear Sister,
You have endured many struggles in the years of conflict in your country. As a woman, you've faced horrors that I can't even imagine. But despite this, you continue to persevere, provide for your family and create a brighter future for your community and your country.
