Two pieces of legislation recently passed by Congress, The Food and Drug Revitalization Act of 2007 (S.1082) and The Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 (H.R. 2900), include three critical pediatric components that could make children's medicines and medical devices safer and more effective. We urge you to support these important bills through conference and Vote YES on final passage. The outcome could improve the lives of countless children across the nation.
Very little information is currently known about how children may react to a majority of medicines. Often children are under-dosed or overdosed, because doctors simply don't know how much of a drug they need. The solution is simple: In order to ensure correct medical dosages and drug formulations, medicines must be tested and produced specifically for children.
