No One Should Lose Their Home for Escaping Abuse

The reality is stark: more than a third of all domestic violence victims become unhoused at some point in their lifetimes.

Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and their children. Survivors often flee life-threatening circumstances with limited financial resources, damaged credit, and disrupted employment. Housing programs are essential to helping survivors and their children reach safety and avoid homelessness.

At the National Domestic Violence Hotline, we believe that NO ONE should have to choose between homelessness and returning to an abusive partner.

We're calling on lawmakers in Congress to improve housing protections for survivors and fund emergency shelters, transitional housing, and rapid rehousing programs. Survivors and their children are counting on this funding so they can access safe housing. Survivors cannot afford to wait.

Can you sign today, and demand Congress do more to keep domestic violence survivors safe from housing instability?
