Help Syrian Children Survive Winter

Esraa is four years old, her little brother is three. The siblings have survived years of conflict, and now, like millions of Syrian children, they’re fighting to stay warm this winter.

Esraa huddles with her brother amongst the rubble on a bombed out street in Aleppo.
Before long the ground here will be blanketed in snow and ice, as another bitter winter looms for Syrian children.

Esraa lives with her family in a shelter for displaced people in Aleppo. But no matter how well made it is, the corrugated iron and concrete floor does little to protect her against the freezing wind and rain.

Thousands of Syrian families are living like this andin other makeshift housing. And as winter approaches, it’s putting already vulnerable children at even greater risk in the sub-zero temperatures.

This year more than 1.5 million children in Syria, Iraq and the State of Palestine are at risk to the snow and bitter cold.

UNICEF is working tirelessly to provide thermal blankets, warm winter clothing and other life-saving supplies for vulnerable children like Esraa. Without these essential supplies, many children will struggle to survive.
